Job Description:
Research Triangle Institute (RTI) is seeking qualified technical experts and specialists for the anticipated follow-on to the USAID West Africa Biodiversity and Low Emission Development Activity (WABiLED). The goal of the project is to promote biodiversity conservation, combat wildlife crime, maximize land-based greenhouse gas mitigation, and promote low emissions development in West Africa. Positions are contingent upon award and funding.
Key Responsibilities:
Biodiversity conservation
Climate resilience planning
Climate financing
Carbon project development
Countering wildlife crime and trafficking, anti-poaching
Human-Wildlife Conflict management
Deforestation and forest degradation
Timber trade management
Policy reform and governance
Private sector engagement, especially in transportation, tourism, and agriculture
Value chain development for non-timber forest products
Communications and knowledge management
Monitoring and evaluation
Gender, Youth, Social Inclusion Integration
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 6 years of experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Fluency in French and local languages required for francophone countries
Citizens of Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Benin, Togo, Nigeria, and Cameroon are strongly encouraged to apply
